- Unified his 3 provinces and enlarged his holdings
- Got approval from junkers to create a strong army ( junkers are noble's that dominated the estates of Brandenburg and Prussia and were extremely hard to get approval from)
- His army helped the nation's economy and structure
- Didn't inherit power by a bloodline, he earned it
- Inherited, the sandbox of Brandenburg-Prussia and made it into a western European powerhouse!
- Made peace with Sweden in 1643 ( because during the reign of his predecessor, Sweden was invaded)

- Humble beginnings (grew up so devastatingly poor that his parents didn't have enough money to baptist him as a baby)

- The Thirty Year Wars left Brandenburg tarnished with no leader guiding the country into the right direction. Before Frederick William, the junkers ruled over the country leading it into chaos. When Frederick came into power in 1640 he restored Hohenzollern and centralized Brandenburg’s administration.
